Bosch is the primary OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) source of oxygen sensors for most European cars. Use of an OE Type Fitment when replacing an oxygen sensor ensures that it will be able to be installed as intended with the proper connector and the correct length cable. It avoids the trouble of finding a location along the original cabling to splice in a connector for a universal oxygen sensor and the difficulty of properly splicing into a cable in the hostile environment of an automobile engine compartment next to the exhaust piping. If a Check Engine Light (CEL) is caused by a questionable reading from an oxygen sensor, it may be a result of a problem with the connector, the cable, or the sensor. This product will correct any of them. If the CEL is lit, most large chain auto parts stores, like AutoZone, will read the On Board Diagnostics on your car for free and let you know if it is likely that an oxygen sensor needs replacement. This is common on cars with more than 50,000 to 100,000 miles and many cars have several oxygen sensors that are often individually identified by the scan tool. Be sure to use a good quality tool intended for oxygen sensors to remove the old sensor that is often hard to reach and harder to turn. These tools can be borrowed from stores like AutoZone for free.
