(More customer reviews)I bought this mid pipe for my 1996 Subaru Legacy to replace the rotted original unit. However this is one of 3 pieces to a replacement system, not a replacement piece for your existing stock exhaust. You'll need to order the catalytic converter (Bosal 099-229), tailpipe (Bosal 278-753), as well as the gaskets to go between the Y-pipe and midpipe/tailpipe (search Amazon for Ishino Exhaust Flange Gasket, and get two) and you'll need a donut gasket kit to go between the catalytic convertor and this midpipe. Amazon sells a few and but I got mine from a local parts store, make sure what you get will fit over a pipe with a 2 1/8 inch outside diameter.
The pipes are well made and once installed in the car fit very nicely. They're made of aluminized steel so they should have good rust resistance. When you install, be absolutely sure to get hardened bolts. I used 7/16 bolts from Sears Hardware but 3/8 might be a better fit. You'll also need washers, lock washers, and nuts.
Amazon's prices were about 40% less than Autozone, Advance, NAPA, and O'Reilly's, for the exact same parts.
