GenTran GS7500 Generator Shelter for Portable Generators up to 7500-Watt Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I would like to comment as someone who did purchase the product and I did file a complaint. In fact, I filed the complaint before the date the manufacturer posted a review that they haven't had any complaints. To refresh his memory and inform potential buyers. I purchased the
generator as a result of a devastating tornado that hit my town. My family was
without power for almost 5 days and relied on a generator. The generator I
purchased, because of the tornado, has 5500 Watts. The GenShed GS7500
claims to be designed for 7500 Watts so I thought it would be the perfect
item to protect my new investment. It was installed on June 28, 2008, and
tested on June 29, 2008 for 30 minutes. On August 3, 2008, I tested the
generator for 1 hour per the manual instructions for the first time inside the GenShed because the generator manual requires it to be tested monthly.
After only one hour, the plastic back around the exhaust of the Genshed was melted. After only one hour of use, I feel that this product is extremely unsafe. Had the generator been inside the GenShed the entire 5 days I was without power, I believe I would have faced a serious fire within a couple of hours. I posted pictures and although I am still disputing the fact that I paid for this faulty product, I am mostly concerned about consumer safety. The manufacturer continues to blame it on my installation but I can guarantee that it was installed as instructed. If this product can melt so fast imagine running your generator overnight inside this shed... your house could be on fire while you are sleeping and you'd never know it!!!!! Buyer BEWARE!

GS7500The GenShed shelter provides a convenient, rigid, weatherproof, lockable place to store and operate a portable generator for backup power when connected to a transfer switch. It provides out-of-the-way protection for your generator, and frees up space in your garage for other items.Exhaust fumes and heat exit the GenShed shelter through the magnetic exhaust system while additional heat is dissipated through louvers mounted on the walls and rear of the enclosure. The blower fan connects to a standard 120 volt receptacle on the generator to introduce fresh air to the generator engine, and only runs when the generator is running. The high temperature sensor switch will shut off the generator in case of overheating. Features: -Factory Installed Louvers -Patent-Pending Magnetic Exhaust system -Pre-Installed Blower Fan (connects to 120V receptacle on Generator) -High Temperature Sensor Switch Please Note: ALL components included in the GenShed shelter kit MUST be installed in order for it to operate as designed and to avoid property damage or personal injury. Not all portable generators are compatible with the GenShed shelter!! Your portable generator MUST have a tubular pipe and/or single exhaust hole and a steel exhaust cavity for the magnet to work. Baffled exhausts or exhaust points with perforated metal holes or louvers will NOT work with the GenShed shelter. Please check the Generator Compatibility Chart for a list of current model generators that have been verified by our factory. The GenShed shelter must be located no less than 18'' from a non-combustible surface and no less than 5 feet from a door or window opening. Generator should be placed in the shelter with the exhaust facing the back or side. Magnetic Exhaust System must be affixed to the muffler pipe and the flexible pipe must be routed to the pre-drilled hole that allows the straightest path outside.
