I purchased this muffler from Amazon.com (great price and free shipping) for my 2004 Sonata. Local muffler shop scared me as the old men told me this muffler wouldn't fit becuase the position of the in /out tips. My car suppose to use a mid in and off set out.
My fix consisted on driving 15 miles to another shop, the guys did a great job removing the OEM muffler and installing this one, no problems at all, direct fit with just the need of a small additional pipe to connect to the rest of the exhaust pipe.
The Muffler sounds great, very sporty and even better when the car revs up (i.e. joining a high speed street or freeway). I haven't noticed any improvement on Gas maybe little on HP but my commute changed drastically to just city, so I can't go fast and Gas milege comparision wouldn't be fair.
The OK:

When iddle the Muffler can barely be heard, but be aware that if your car (like my Sonata) is / was a very silent car, you will immediately notice the change as you WILL hear the muffler even with all windows up! as soon as you put your foot on the gas. The bass (low freq) sound of the muffler makes the car sound like a V8, but it is not annoying neither "ricer", the muffler just makes sure every HP is heard on low freq tone.
The not so great:
Maybe it is just my car, but I wish the muffler was a lot more silent at low RPMs. As it is right now I can hear the muffler even at 1.5K RPM, it would be great if my car was silent when below 2K RPM but sporty when passing 2K RPM. I am not annoyed and much less disapointed, it is still a very good buy, and if I roll down the windows the road noise of other cars kill the sound of the muffler when my car is on low (
