(More customer reviews)My 2000 Acura Integra didn't pass smog. It was close, but hydrocarbons were just over the limit. Everything else was plenty low.
After replacing both O2 sensors at the mechanic's suggestions, it still didn't pass. So I went ahead and ordered this cat. Keep in mind it has the rear O2 bung but no flanges. So I cut the flanges off the Honda cat and welded them on here. Drove right over and passed with flying colors. Almost all values were 0 and well below the average.
I later found out after ordering there is an even cheaper one available (~$140) that does not have the O2 bung. If I ever need another one I'll buy that and weld in a bung. It's magnaflow model 36034 incase anyone was wondering. Same catalytic core, pipe dia on both sides and same length.
If your car is throwing a catalyst efficency code, just order one of these and don't waste your time replacing O2 sensors like I did.

Other than the wrong application, the catalytic converter was a well made quality product. I contacted the seller, who responded promptly with return information. I would do business with them again, but will have to pay more attention to the vehicle sub-categories to get the exact part I want.

(More customer reviews)It's hard to judge the long term durability of a cat because so many external factors can lead to premature failure. What I can say is that the workmanship appears to be good (solid feed, good welds, etc). I failed miserably with my old cat, and passed with flying colors with this one. So this model worked well for me.
Many of my friends have had very poor luck with all makes of aftermarket cats. It could be that they are of poorer quality than OEM. It may be that aftermarket cats typically are installed on older cars that have other problems. If your car is running rich you can burn up even the best catalytic converter. This is why many people who buy aftermarket cats wind up changing them every biannual smog check. I will find out in two years whether I can pass more than one inspection cycle with this cat.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this cat made by magnaflow for a 1994 Toyota 4Runner 3.0L V6, with California emissions. The overall length of the cat I have is 20 1/2". The replacement cat from magnaflow is only 17-3/8". After talking with magnaflow's tech dept, they were of no help to solve the problem. I had to order the universal cat and have my local muffler shop fabricate the flanges to the correct length.

(More customer reviews)Made multiply changes to exhaust system so unknown results of just this item. My stock 3.4l Toyota Tacoma truck has more power, that I always suspected of had a restrictive exhaust system which is true. Whether this restriction was from the catalytic converter or the muffler system; I do not know, but after putting on this stainless steel catalytic converter that does bolt in/on place without modifications to a Gibson stainless steel exhaust kit that does not simply bolt in place, my truck now has a noisier growl and runs free. Wish I made this change when I first bought the truck, as it is far better even with the added noise factor, which grows on you but I would like to have it quite if I did not have to give up a better running truck. I believe the noise is do to the smaller muffler and has nothing to do with the catalytic converter, only wish I new if changing the catalytic converter would have improved the flow without adding the noise that I believe is caused by the after market exhaust system which cost a lot to install as it was not a bolt in/on no matter how they describe it. All I know is that you are going be going to good muffler shop which should be able to do the same job with the parts they have on hand. It would have been worth buying the exhaust kit it if was simple installation complete with the flange plate that bolts up to the catalytic converter and factory style muffler hangers welded in place but then you still going to shop to have it welded for a seal tight durable connection which means your are going to be paying more money to have it installed, killing any savings of buying a exhaust kit, especially one that does not come with the flange plate and needs to be welded together to be a sealed system plus the clamp on supplied single hanging bracket(s) suck compared to the welded on dual factory original setup. Thanks to my installer he fabricated a setup similar to the factory muffler hanger which I am very pleased with. Secondary thoughts are that the stainless steel system is over kill and the aluminumized steel is the way to go according to the muffler shop I went to. complete with the flange plate that bolts up to the catalyic converter and factory style muffler hangers welded in place but then you still going to shop to have it welded for a seal tight durable connection which means your are going to be paying more money to have it installed, killing any savings of buying a exhaust kit, especially one that does not come with the flange plate and needs to be welded together to be a sealed system plus the clamp on supplied single hanging bracket(s) suck compared to the welded on dual factory orginal setup. (More customer reviews)Bought this for a Ford F-150 that wouldn't pass the smog inspection. I thought I would be able to find a way to install it myself, but after looking at it and at the exhaust system, I realized there was just no way I could do that. It had to be inert-gas welded. It is all stainless steel, which is good, but welding stainless steel is not something I can do. I could have welded carbon steel, but welding stainless is a bit much for most home mechanics. I tried to figure out some other way to mount it, but that was just not practical. I was hoping that it would come with some sort of kit or adapters or instructions to provide for do-it-yourself installation, but it didn't.
As it turned out, I needed professional installation help anyway, because the truck actually has two catalytic converters and when I did take it to a muffler shop to have it installed, they found that the other one (of a totally different geometry) was also shot and needed to be replaced as well. I did save a little bit of money getting a good deal on this one from Amazon, but the whole replacement cost way more than the cost of this part.
Replacing the two converters did solve the smog test problem though, and it passed with flying colors after that.

(More customer reviews)It didn't quite fit my '96 s10, but after a quick trip to Advance to get some exhaust pipe and a bit of welding it was ready to be tacked, welded, and put into place. It didn't turn off my check engine light simply because it turned out to be an 02 sensor, but there is no doubt the old ac delco one was waaay past needing to be replaced, the whole thing was melted nearly plumb through. My gas mileage has gone up substantially, and paired with my cat-back exhaust it's given my truck a nice low rumble. Overall, if you can weld, and are willing to do a bit of work to make it fit it's a great cat, especially for the price.

(More customer reviews)The catalytic converter in my 2000 Chevy Malibu was clogged and causing issues with driveability. I was looking for a direct fit unit because I wanted to be able to change the converter in my garage. I don't have a welder or a saw-zaw, so a universal converter would have been harder to deal with then a direct fit.
First thing I noticed when this arrived was the build quality. This was a much much better unit then the aftermarket (walker brand I believe) converter that I was replacing. The actual converter was about 6 inches longer then the part I had removed. The tubing leading off of the converter was all stainless steal. I believe it was 2.25" tubing, I didn't measure, but that seems right. The aftermarket exhaust I have on my car uses 2 inch tubing, which I believe is smaller then stock, but I can't be sure. Also, the tube bends on the magnaflow were exceptional. There was no wrinkling or crimping at all on the bends, they were perfectly smooth. the flanges on this were also about twice as thick as the flanges from the part I was replacing. It was about 3/8 inch thick where my the old flange looked to be only a little under 1/4 inch thick.
It bolted right in place of the old catalytic converter. The flanges lined up perfectly, and the O2 sensor port was in the same spot as before. No issues at all with the install. The car drives great now that it is in there.
I would definately recommend this to anyone in need of a new direct fit converter, except those of you in California. The quality on this is exceptional, and I wish magnaflow made an exhaust kit for my car so I could have the same build quality all the way from the cat on back.

Wrong. can you say about another 2 hours of work to get it to fit. the stupid thing was about 5 inches short. so i had to cut off the factory bolt on edge of my brand new exaust and the factory edge of this junk part and fit in a piece of pipe and weld it all together. so it ended up costing me an extra 100 some dollars. Not worth the time or frustration. I would not advise buying this product to anyone. And if you do good luck.
