Volant 15857 Cool Air Intake Kit Review

Volant 15857 Cool Air Intake Kit

The Volant Air Intake System was a very straight forward install. The Volant design and appearance are exceptional. The only deficiency encountered was the hole in the air intake tube for mounting to the throttle body was not drilled cleanly through thus necessitating a drilling of this hole to allow the air intake to fit over the mounting stud.

This is a quality intake that definitely improves the sound of the engine. I can't say that I notice a difference in power, but I'm sure it adds a few extra ponies. Amazon says this doesn't fit the 2009 Chrysler 300C SRT8 6.1L engine, but AFE assured me it would fit, and it fit just fine. The included instructions are for the 5.7L, but the steps are basically the same.
Overall the installation was simple, though there were a few things that could have been better. The hose had to be cut to fit properly, and the bolts that attach the tube to the shield were extremely short (the bolt under the filter was very hard to get on).
I've read that this was redesigned to prevent the tube from rubbing against the hood; either that is still an issue or I received the old tube.
The dry filter is very nice, and looks like it will be super easy to clean.

aFe TR-1004P Takeda Cold Air Intake System Review

Recently bought a tr-1004p intake made by Takeda from Amazon. Received the order fast and in good condition. After reading the instructions carefully proceded to install unit. Everything fit and lined up except the rubber elbow going on to the throttle body, it was a 1/4 inch too big in diameter. I already removed all the original equipment so I was in a bind. I decided to wrap the throttle body with tape so it would fit. The next day I called AFE, it took 4 days before I got a call back but it was over the 4th of July so that was ok. The tech rep said he had not run into the problem before. This unit fits 2006-2011. I gave him the measurements over the phone and he said he would ship out a replacement elbow. Received the elbow in 3 days but it was too short and too small. I called back to the same rep and told him the problem. He shipped out a second elbow but again it was too big. I gave up dealing with AFE and found a rubbed insert to take up the 1/4 inch space it happens to be a vacuum cleaner belt. Would I buy this again, NO!! aFe TR-1004P Takeda Cold Air Intake System

I got that intake 3 days ago and installed it in 2 hours, there are a few problems I had to face but the rest of the installation was breeze. The intake it self adds up some power yes its noticeable like in my case I actually raced a focus RS and was able to keep up with him. So overall its a better intake than K&N, and u dont have to oil it so no damage to your MAF sensor.

I just installed it today on my 04 Ram, took about 5 minutes to install and the only tool I needed was a flathead screwdriver.
First thing i noticed was that it gave my truck a lower "growl" making the stock flows sound a lot meaner.
Second was a noticable gain in horsepower/torque which I spent a majority of my day "testing" out.
as for gas mileage I'll come back on a later date after I've had time to test it out

Good Quality

Obvious power increase
Fuel Economy is up about 15%
When I reinstalled the Mass Air Flow Sensor, one of the provided screws stripped. I just used an extra one I had in the garage - so no big deal. Just make sure you really squish down the little gasket for a minute or 2 before you try to screw it down. But aside from that minor issue, I am very impressed with the quality and appearance.

This is the first cold air intake I've ever owned, and my first
impressions of it is that it is amazing. The throttle response,
and the hp gain is enough where the owner will notice a diff-
erence in the performance. As far as mpg I've noticed a small
difference, but I also drive very conservatively because I have
a motorcycle where I quench the speed demon inside of me with.
automobiles are for comfort and bikes are for speed. Overall I
love this intake system. I gave it 4 stars due to the fact that
the installation wasn't as easy as I thought and because the guide
isn't as detailed as it should be.

I got this Intake for my 4.0 Jeep Cherokee. Everyone is saying why didn't you go for the K&N there better. NO K&N are good but only for specific cars. This Intake is loud when you give it gas or just starting up the Jeep. There was a noticeable gain of power around 10HP an TRQ you can feel it. I have done research on all intakes for Jeeps besides K&N also AEM, Airaid, Spectra , Volant and Rugged Ridge. Out of all of them AFE had the nicest design with the heat shield and anyone that likes AFE and K&N will tell you these two companies have the best filters out to date.

Just installed yesterday on 4.3 Silverado. Does not sound good at all. well maybe on idle it does other than that your just another v6'er who tried to sound like a v8. the only reason I gave 2 stars was for amazon on the shipping, thats about it. V6 Silverado owners, listen to V8 owners, dont put a exhaust on a V6 truck you wont be happy.
Costs: $90 for muffler
Install: $70
Cost of taking flowmaster off and installing OEM Muffler: 120
What a mistake.

Flowmaster 17362 Cat-back System - Single Side Exit - Force II - Mild Sound Review

Flowmaster 17362 Cat-back System - Single Side Exit - Force II - Mild Sound

This is a great cat back system for those who want a performance exhaust without the noise. Sound levels are slightly louder than stock mufflers. The best way that I can describe the sound is performance/stock. I did notice a different (better) feel on the accelerator. This is the first exhaust system that I have ever had to make a noticeable difference. As for increased power or fuel economy, I do not know at this point. I purchased this set to replace a 2 chamber dual set up. I forgot how nice a quiet truck was.

Besides having the parts come in damaged twice when my mechanic installed the exhaust the hangers and supports had to be reworked witch cost another hour in labor. Also the tail pipes do not line up evenly because the pipes were not bent correctly. If i had to do it over again i would have just gone to a muffler shop and had a custom exhaust made.I will just have to live with this very expensive exhaust system because it is now installed in my truck. What a BUMMER!

I'm not saying that this is the best exhaust out there, but if you get in on sale like I did its a nice product for the price. With all the cats on the truck it's pretty quiet at idle,(a little loud than stock) has a noticeable rumble at part throttle, and is fairly loud at WOT. I think it would sound better if they used a couple of 40 series mufflers instead with a crossover in front of them instead of the single 50 series muffler. Still I think it sounds pretty good, and nowhere near as bad as many Flowmaster haters make it out to be.

aFe TR-4101P Takeda Cold Air Intake System Review

aFe TR-4101P Takeda Cold Air Intake System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I installed this cold air intake on my 2008.5 Mazda3i Touring Value 2.0L, automatic transmission model car and I've owned this product for nearly 2 1/2 months. It was fairly simple to install, the hardest part was removing some of the stock components that were to be reused in the application of the new air system. Having read some reviews on some Mazda3-specific forums, I was a little nervous about the outcome (performance gains, fit of the after market product, etc...).
One reviewer did state that the fit could have been better, namely when replacing the battery compartment cooling duct: The reviewer stated he had to remove the bracket that pinned the duct down to its stock location. That reviewer was right, the plastic bracket does get in the way somewhat and he permanently removed it by grinding it off with a Dremel-type device. I wasn't willing to do that. My car still has a little over a year left on the factory warranty and I was concerned that the duct wouldn't fit right if I had to replace the stock system for any reason.
Another fit issue I noticed, although it may not be that big of a deal, was with the white, plastic (sensor/valve?), which was a huge PITA to remove from the stock air hose location. It seems to fit a little awkward on the new application, I'm hoping the supplied grommet is keeping a sufficient seal, as the hose which is attached to that valve(?) tends to pull it towards the engine block/firewall.
Another issue has to do with a rattling noise that I hear in a certain gear/RPM. I've tried to reproduce this noise while in park and revving the engine a little, but it only seems to be present when I'm in drive. I can't really pinpoint what is causing it. My first impression is there is more, unrestricted air moving over the butterfly valve at the throttle body, but that's just a shot in the dark guess.
Also, the fit for the mass airflow sensor on the RAM was a little tight, I was worried at first it wouldn't fit at all.
I have seen some marginal gains in MPG's, I'm averaging about 22.5 miles per gallon with a max of 25.5 MPG on one fill-up in particular (I am a bit of a lead-foot, so others may have better stats in this regard). I can't really tell much of a difference in torque, if anything it seems to be a little more sluggish off the line, but that could be my imagination.
In summation:
Pro's:
* Great price! While this is my first experience with aFe products, I've heard they are top of the line, without having to shell out a grip of cash on a similar product like K&N.
* Utilizes a dry filter element, not sure if this is really that big of a deal, but at least you're not having to oil it down when you clean the filter.
* Pretty easy to install once you've removed all the stock equipment. Install instructions could have been better. I seem to recall it referencing a part from the stock setup that needed to be installed on the aftermarket setup that I simply did not have.
* Slight gains in fuel economy. Mine went up by a rough average of 1.5 MPG.
* Comes with some other little treats, like a Takeda key chain, 2 stickers, license plate frame and a discount card for accessories purchased from the manufacturer.
Con's:
* A little ill-fitting; but may be what you have to live with if you're choosing a short RAM v. a long RAM.
* Some noise generates at certain RPM's/gears.
* Might produce a little less torque off the line than I expected, in combination with an after market exhaust system, this might be a non-issue.
Overall, for the budget-minded modder, not a bad choice. I don't regret the purchase, just wish it fit a little better.
