Stage 8 8912 BB CHEV & FORD HEADER BOL Review

Stage 8 8912 BB CHEV and FORD HEADER BOL
Average Reviews:

Have not installed yet, will have some clearance issues with the headers I have (shorty headers for an LT1 into a Jeep conversion). You need a certain amount of space between the header tubes and the bolt holes, and with wrapped headers like mine you don't have much clearance to work with. With some modification, I think these may be made to work (grinding downt eh locking 'teardrop' pieces). If you are super tight to the holes, you may be better served using safety wire instead. But, the product themselves, if you have room, looks top notch.

Hooker 5210HKR Super Comp. Header Review

Hooker 5210HKR Super Comp. Header
Average Reviews:

The headers themselves were fine but the set was missing one tube from the passenger side header. I sent feedback to Amazon and heard nothing back from them!
It is a good thing we have the ability to fabricate in our shop and fabbed up a replacement tube but we did not budget for a couple hours to cut a flange and fit and fabricate a tube.
The fact that no one from Amazon replied to my feedback is disappointing.

Flowtech 91948FLT Shorty Smog Headers Review

Flowtech 91948FLT Shorty Smog Headers
Average Reviews:

Don't waste your money in buying this headers. When I first installed them on my 04 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 5.7 Hemi. They were leaking exhaust on both banks. I took them off the next day and found that the primary tubes were not alined and welded correctly to the mating surface to the heads and not enough surface area for the exhaust gasket to seal properly. In order to correct the problem my self," because I could not wait to get new one". I had to weld extra metal and resurface in order to create a good seal for the gasket and port out the primary tubes, because the exhaust holes on the headers were not lining up to the gasket also. So, don't waste your time and money on these headers.

aFe 51-10712 Stage 2 Air Intake System Review

aFe 51-10712 Stage 2 Air Intake System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a quality intake that definitely improves the sound of the engine. I can't say that I notice a difference in power, but I'm sure it adds a few extra ponies. Amazon says this doesn't fit the 2009 Chrysler 300C SRT8 6.1L engine, but AFE assured me it would fit, and it fit just fine. The included instructions are for the 5.7L, but the steps are basically the same.
Overall the installation was simple, though there were a few things that could have been better. The hose had to be cut to fit properly, and the bolts that attach the tube to the shield were extremely short (the bolt under the filter was very hard to get on).
I've read that this was redesigned to prevent the tube from rubbing against the hood; either that is still an issue or I received the old tube.
The dry filter is very nice, and looks like it will be super easy to clean.

Thrush 17661 Welded Muffler Review

Thrush 17661 Welded Muffler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 5.3 4x4. It is not a "true" dual exaust since there is only one cat and one muffler. but, I think it sounds great and for the price can't be beat. I heard a buddy's truck a few months ago and as soon as I heard it I knew I had to have the same muffler/exhaust setup. He recommended this muffler. Once it was installed, I have not regretted it at all. It has a great, deep sound when accelerating and when starting but is pretty quiet when at an idle. I was worried that it would be too loud, but that is not a worry...in fact, it could be a bit louder and that would be OK with me, but as stated, I was erroring on the side of caution to not have it too loud. Overall I love this muffler and would recommend it to a friend.

Flowtech 12102FLT Black Standard Headers Review

Flowtech 12102FLT Black Standard Headers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Flowtech 12102FLT headers for a 65 Ford mustang 289. The motor is not original and has Jr. Ford Cylinder heads with 14mm spark plugs. The headers were the third set (all different brands) that I tried on this car. After two unsuccessful header brands, I was able to get the Flowtechs to work but several modifications were required.
The attachment hardware was appropriate and the bolts were the same length on all the headers. The originals that came on the car were stamped 6111 with no other discernable notations. The 6111 model had been dented in numerous places apparently in an attempt to get them to work in the car and the motor had to be lifted to get them off. However, the primary reason they were replaced is because I could not get the plugs out as the flanges that bolt to the heads covered too much of the spark plugs. Only with the headers unbolted could the plugs be removed. Along with significant dents they were also rusty and had a one inch rip/hole in one of the primaries.
After removing the original 6111's, the first set tried was the Hedman 88660. These fit perfectly on the heads and were the easiest of all to slide up into the motor. However, the passenger side touched the bell-housing and one tube (#6) on the driver side rested on top of the pivot for the equalizer Z-Bar (so it could not be reinstalled). Thus, there was no possible way to use these with significantly bending/denting the tubes. I also found there was not quite enough room to tighten the spark plugs in #5 and #6 with a socket. They were returned.
Then the Flowtechs were purchased. Since I have not made a clear decision on how I want to proceed with motor I just wanted something inexpensive that would work reasonably well. At $115 I think the Flowtechs are probably the lowest costs option available which is why I initially avoided these and tried the Hedmens.
I was pleased to find the Flowtechs had good clearance within the engine bay and bolted easily to the heads. But they still presented several problems. Like the 6111 they had too much flange over the spark plug holes. Not a big deal but about 1/8 inch or so had to be cut out of the flanges to allow enough clearance for the spark plugs and a socket. Then all the plugs fit well except #5 and #6. Here the clearance with the tubes was much worse than the Hedmans and in #5 I could not even get the plug to screw in as the end of the plug hitting the top of the header. My solution was to make an approximately 1/4 inch or so concave dent to allow clearance for the plug and wire. Since the tubes are 1.5 inches and I made a mandrel dent, it didn't appear to create any significant blockage. I would have rather not have had to dent them but it was the only workable solution I could see. There's no easy way to bend the tube itself and the #5 tube is pulled almost directly to the collector so there is no usable additional length that could be unraveled from it.
Finally, while the Z-Bar fit with plenty of room on the pivots, the bottom of the lower arm hit the #5 tube out even before the top of the Z-Bar could be bolted to the upper clutch release rod. Without a different Z-Bar the solution is simply to cut one of the arms (I chose the lower arm) and moved/rewelded it so the arm will be about 1" inch closer to the clutch fork from the factory position. I did mine about 2" inches so I could position the top of the Z-bar further into the release rod without hitting the header tube. The further into the release rod (closer to the firewall) the z-bar is attached the more the lower arm on the Z-Bar goes toward the front of the car (and into a header tube). This change had no effect on the clutch operation and the clutch mechanism works as good as it ever did. In fact I think the angles appear to be better than OEM this way. Once all this was done, the headers worked perfectly and had no discernible leaks. These headers were definitely a pain to install and required a lot of work but for $115 dollars and free shipping I can't complain too much and I'm happy I finally have something that works well.

i had been reading that if you want an intake this is the best one to get for a 6.0l powerstroke. with that said, it was a very straightforward install. directions could have been a little better but it wasnt like it was hard. i noticed a little more spool on the turbo but no major power gains. no complaints and looks great under the hood

I ordered the part specific to my vehicle. However when I received it it was the part for a different engine model. I have a 2004 24v 2.8l VR6. I was sent the Cat Conv. for a 12V motor (not even an option for that year/make/model). Had to return it for refund because they didn't have the proper part.
