(More customer reviews)this kit replaces the factory muffler and tailpipe. fit is absolutely perfect, at least on my 1999 suburban 2500LT with 5.7 engine. factory exhaust system on my particular truck is separate 2.5 inch pipes from the engine to the dual inlet muffler, with two converters. one caution, however: the muffler inlets are too large to be installed using muffler clamps. the instructions are not kidding when they say welding is required! and access to the tops of the inlets using a mig welder is virtually impossible. i welded them up to about the last 1 inch at the top and used exhaust sealant paste to finish the seal... no leaks so far. sound is a bit aggressive, but significantly less than the individual 2.5 inch "flowmasters" and custom-bent tailpipes which i was replacing. truck seems to run a bit better as well. for the money, this system can't be beat.
