I must be on my third muffler already, this time I went step farther and purchased high temp spray paint and painted all welded connections between hooks and muffler itself also sprayed the weld between the pipe going out of the muffler and screw on plate (in simple words sprayed all the welds).
Reason I did that is because all previous replacements ended up breaking at those points and there is no good way to get them welded back on.
I can't tell if this will help it last, but the paint is cheap enough to take a small gamble.
Bottom line on the average you will get two to three years out of this muffler before rust comes and does its job, (I really doubt this car will last another two to three years for me to update if painting welds made it last longer).
