I wanted a deep and aggressive sound. This muffler delivered! I've had Flowmaster 40s and 44s on other vehicles and really enjoyed them but wanted something even MEANER. I am VERY satisfied with this muffler. It does drone but so does every other loud and aggressive muffler. The thing is, the droning is so deep and rumbly that it sounds amazing.
I recommend either dumping the tailpipe over the axle or running the tailpipes out the back if this is going on a daily driver.
Once again, this thing is MEAN. Exactly what I wanted, I am very satisfied.
Mufflers I have owned: Super 40 on a 5.3L(and 4.8L v8, 5.7L v8) v8, Super 44 on a 5.3L v8, Dynomax 12" Bullet on the 4.8L v8
If you want to turn heads this super aggressive muffler is for you.

I've a bit of a popping/backfire problem (I have headers). I may have to swap it out, but has a good tone at highway speeds. It just isn't big enough for larger engines.

(More customer reviews)The bike is a 1982 Suzuki GS650GL. Engine mods include a Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit and full Dynatek ignition. The collector and head pipes are factory Suzuki. I cut off the old megaphone mufflers because they were rusted out. Threw these on and I am very happy. For $30 a piece, I have what I think is a very good sounding exhaust. At idle it has a nice "wup wup wup wup" sound, but given any gas it has a very throaty "muscle" sound. Good mufflers for the money!

(More customer reviews)This Flowmaster has a very aggressive sound but is not to loud for me, I have it in my 94 Dodge Dakota with the 318 or 5.2 V8 with a 2.5" exhaust and it is not very loud in the truck when I am driving it even with the windows open. I even put the same one on my wifes 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee, per her request, and it has a 2.25" system with the 4.0 I-6 engine and now it sounds like a V-8 and she loves it.

Hushpower 12412400 HP-2 Shorty 409S - 2.25" Center In / 2.25" Center Out 12.00" Case Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these for my 2010 Dodge challenger and they are awesome. I had Flowmaster super 44s put on it and removed the factory resonators. The super 44s sounded great but the drone around 2000 RPMs (cruising hwy speed) was pretty bad. I had a difficult time finding some resonators to replace the factory ones with and decided to go with these. They're actually marketed as a muffler but I called flowmaster and they confirmed that the shorties were designed to be resonators. In fact, the box they came in says "resonator." They sound great! This is exactly the sound I wanted. They give a great deep tone and completely eliminate the hwy drone. You can still hear the aggressiveness of the super 44s (especially on acceleration) but these have taken the edge off considerably. If you are wanting a tuned sound that has a deep bassy low pitched hum, these are great. They don't make it too quiet either. I would say that if my car was an 8/10 before at its loudest, it is now more like a 6/10 at its very loudest. The best part is, it hums very pleasantly while cruising on the hwy with no annoying drone (about a 3/10) and it actually sounds better with the resonators. Overall, great resonators to eliminate drone and improve quality and quantity of sound. It will be a little quieter but it will sound better.
