(More customer reviews)It really SUCKS the big one that my ONLY option to replace one bad Catalytic Converter on my 2003 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3l in Ca, is this Complete Unit for $728!!! You know I could buy a Single Cat for under $90 if I was in ANY OTHER STATE!!! For the SAME FREEKEN thing. It's just not Certified for use in CA and on MY truck!! If I had the 4.3 or 4.8 I'd at least have the Single $300 weld in option!!! I have ZERO options right now for a Single CA legal cat for my truck!!! I've looked everywhere. Know what a muffler shop told me? Dealer Item Only, on a freeken 2003 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3. What are there, a zillion of them out there??? CARB is a huge JOKE and should be disbanded and go with Government Regulations. The things they do, like the whole MTBE disaster. That Poison they forced into CA gas!!! Those people in CARB (California Air Resource Board) are a bunch of over paid IDIOT'S!!!
The good thing, I don't have to worry about a SMOG check for more then a year or so instead of fixing it NOW even though I risk it plugging up my exhaust because it's broken up inside, my Truck can just throw pollution right out the exhaust instead for most of that time. In a year or so, I'll be forced to fix it. See how it works and how the Government is getting just what they don't want!!! Yep, because of CARB and crazy Prices for most everyone, instead of getting the problem FIXED in a reasonable amount of time, everyone can drag it out and wait until the last possible minute to get it fixed!!! See this is how that new 2009 Law works now. You can't just install a CA legal Converter, Oh no, now it has to be Certified for that Vehicle and Engine. Of course there has to be a nice clear 2" Number on the Cat that can be read at the Smog Station. Don't put the correct one on and you fail!!!
That's the Government at work for you!!! If it was a couple hundred to fix, I'd be fixing it and get my check engine light off already. I don't want it on. Oh well. This is just so DUMB.
