This is the rear (behind the catalytic converter) Oxygen sensor for a few different versions of Subrarus, including my 2001 Forester L. The heating element in the old sensor died (a P0037 engine code error) and I picked up one of these. I bought a Oxygen Sensor 3/8 drive socket to go with it OEM 25001 3/8-Inch Dr. Oxygen Sensor Socket and it took about 30 minutes to swap out the old one and put in the new one. Be sure to purchase some anti seize lubricant with copper Loctite - Copper Anti-Seize Stick, 20 gramOn Sale (37616) to coat the threads with so that if have to replace the O2 sensor again you can actually get it out of the socket. It's an easy job to do and I'd think anyone that can handle a socket set can do it. Don't pay $300 to have someone else do this job when you can do it yourself. Good luck!
