(More customer reviews)Ordered this muffler for an elderly family member who has a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva with the 3.1L V6.
The original muffler on her car completely rotted out so when it was time to replace, I considered the QuietFlowSS & this muffler.
According to Walker the 2 mufflers available for this vehicle have the exact same dimensions.
I would have purchased the QuietFlowSS muffler, except it was about $30 more...and I think it's safe to say that some elderly persons won't notice the difference.
The reason for the 4 star rating is because of the following:
1. The muffler was shipped in original box with absolutely no padding or protection and the end of the pipe was slightly pushed in. I will need to fix this before I install the muffler, because the resonator pipe on the vehicle will not push inside the muffler pipe. It's really not a big deal, but it is an inconvenience.
2. The end of the muffler pipe and the exhaust tip is extremely sharp because no care was taken to grind off the burrs left from cutting the pipe. Again, not a big deal, but it's a little more work for me.
I will post an update once the muffler is installed and I see what it sounds like.
***UPDATE***
I was under the impression that a muffler called the "Sound FX" would be significantly louder than stock. This this is just as quiet as a stock muffler. Maybe Amazon sent me the Quietflow instead? Anyway, installation was a breeze...did need to expand the pipe where it was crushed and use a torch to remove the old muffler from the resonator pipe.
