You can't go wrong buying Walker exhausts, mufflers and tailpipes... especially when Amazon throws in free shipping. I was replacing everything on my 1990 Chevy Silverado K2500 from the catalytic converter back and found everything I needed at a decent price at O'Reilly's (formerly Schucks, Kragen and/or Checkers) website, with free shipping, because the stores don't stock these items anymore and if you make a mistake you can easily return it to any store. However, their site showed the pipe from the converter to the muffler as fitting all three wheelbase sizes on this model and that left me with some doubt even though the pic looked correct. The pipe I received cost $24.99 but would only fit the short wheelbase and mine is the midsize but their site didn't show measurements so I believed what they said.
The correct pipe at O'Reilly would cost me $72.53 and I found it on Amazon for $41.24 and they showed the measurement so I knew it would fit. Also, though Amazon's "does it fit" in Automotive works it does not account for wheelbase lengths so it's not to be trusted totally. Wheelbase is pretty important in trucks because the muffler is normally always in the same spot but the pipe from the converter to the muffler differs to compensate for the wheelbase. The wrong pipe I received was 27" long and since each of the wheelbases differs by 11" I needed one that was about 38" and that's exactly what Amazon showed. All the other items I purchased were about the same on Amazon and I could have saved the sales tax had I not opted for the ability to return a mistake locally. Obviously, had I been purchasing the correct pipe in the first place I would have gone with Amazon on all of it.
Also, not all parts that fit my vehicle show in Amazon when you search on vehicle type. I bought some shocks yesterday by checking prices on some websites and then keying in the manufacturer/item# into Amazon. I found the shocks I wanted for about $9 each rather than the average of $35 elsewhere and I know they'll fit even though Amazon doesn't agree. Try it... you may find what you need for a lot less than elsewhere.
Bottom line... I ended up paying about $125 for the exhaust pipe, muffler and two tailpipes. The local shops wanted about $250 to do it and with the savings I bought a welder so I can save another $25 on clamps. I got a nice welder on sale at Harbor Freight for $89 and if you have a store near you they will match their own website price even if the store price is higher so there's no shipping cost.
I gave it 5 stars because it's the right pipe, a brand name and Amazon had a description that stated the length of the pipe.
